Elliot Chodoff (Major – res)

Elliot has served in the IDF for nearly 35 years. He was co-director of the Fieldcraft Project in the Office of Chief of Doctrine, Infantry and Paratroops. He co-authored the Fieldcraft Manual and taught courses in fieldcraft and tactics to infantry and special forces officers. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Population, Northern Region, Home Front Command and is currently Population Officer of Northern Command. He served in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, and participated in the Second Lebanon War. He was a member of the rescue team at the Taba Hilton and served in the Gaza Disengagement. Elliot is a strategic and military analyst, and has advised military, law enforcement, and government leaders in the ongoing war on terrorists. His paper on combat effectiveness has been on the recommended reading list of the US Army War College. Elliot has a BS in Biological Sciences and a BA with honors in Sociology from Stony Brook University and an MA in Military and Political Sociology from The University of Chicago. He is completing a PhD in Political Sciences at Bar Ilan University.

Rafi Sadi (LtCol – res)

Rafi has served in the IDF for over 40 years. He was an infantry company CO, and later CO of a search and rescue company, serving in the First Lebanon War and its aftermath. He has held many positions in the Population Branch of Home Front Command, including Chief of Staff for Population, Northern Region, participating in numerous operations, including the Second Lebanon War of 2006. He is the Population Behavior Officer of the National Search and Rescue Battalion. He was a member of the rescue teams to Turkey, Taba, Haiti, Nepal, and Mexico. He has commanded for population management courses to the US Army National Guard in Ft Carson CO. Rafi was CEO of the WZO Settlement Dept Golan Region, overseeing development of settlements. Rafi is an organizational consultant and instructor, leading projects in disaster management in local municipalities, and effectiveness programs in the Israeli Air Force. Rafi has a BA in Sociology and Political Sciences from the University of Haifa.

Dr. Robert C. Castel (Captain – res; Superintendent, Israel Police – ret)

Roby has served in the IDF for nearly 30 years. A paratrooper and a captain in military intelligence, he is a decorated combat veteran, having served in Lebanon and several other areas of operation. He serves in one of the IDF’s elite reserve counter-terrorist units. A senior law enforcement official with a background in special operations, he is Chief Security Officer at the Israel National Parks Authority. Roby is a research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI), with research interests in asymmetric warfare, terrorism, and military innovation. He authored the award-winning study The Cyberterrorist’s Manual for the Internet (1996, IICC), and his book When Innovation Failed was published in 2017. He was the research assistant to Adm. (ret) Ami Ayalon, former Head of the General Security Service (Shin Bet). Widely recognized as an authority in the development of creativity and innovation in the operational environment, Roby has taught at the IDF Staff College, the Israel Police Bomb Disposal Department, and Israeli Aircraft Industries. Roby has a PhD in International Relations from the University of Haifa, and a post-doctorate from the Herzl Institute and the IDI.

Shaul Abir (Major – res)

Shaul has served in the IDF for 45 years. He was a tank commander on the Suez Canal on Yom Kippur 1973, and was wounded. Later, he was a tank platoon leader and operations officer for the southern Golan Heights Brigade 188. Shaul served for many years as an organizational psychologist in the Israeli Navy, involved in command advising, recruitment, selection, and training. He serves in the Operations Branch of Northern Command. Shaul was VP for Human Resources and Training at ICTS Global, specializing in loss prevention, aviation and general security. In that role, he worked with airlines, airports, and corporations in over 25 countries. Shaul has a BA with high honors in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University and an MA in International Relations, Negotiations, & Decision-Making from the University of Haifa.

Dov Chodoff (Major – res)

Dov served in the IDF for 15 years. During his service Dov was a combat soldier and infantry company executive officer. Later, he served as liaison officer to the local authorities on the northern border, helping them prepare for emergency. He then served as divisional training officer of the Haifa region, responsible for the training programs of the brigades and battalions of the region. He currently is the program manager in a major Jewish organization, promoting Jewish identity. Dov has a BA in Political Science and International Relations from the Hebrew University.
